On April 23rd, the ICC held a conference call with the Chief Executives' Committee to discuss plans for upcoming ICC global events such as the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2020, ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2021, World Test Championship, and ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League. They reviewed several options for the T20 WC 2020 and narrowed it down to three possibilities: keeping the original Oct-Nov schedule, moving the tournament to Feb-March next year, or postponing it to 2022.
While the ICC has not yet made any final decisions, it will continue to review the situation regularly. The ICC Medical Committee is working to build a comprehensive picture of the issues cricket is facing at this point.
If there is a postponement of the T20 World Cup, it opens up a window for the IPL2020 during Sept-Oct depending upon the global situation.
World T20 likely to be postponed
Due to the global pandemic of coronavirus, all the sports activities across the globe have been paused for a while. According to BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, professional cricket in India won’t happen anytime soon & the sport should take a backseat when there is a risk to human life.
