Squad: Kane Williamson (c), Hamish Bennett, Tom Bruce (last two matches), Colin de Grandhomme (first three matches), Martin Guptill, Scott Kuggeleijn, Daryl Mitchell, Colin Munro, Ross Taylor, Blair Tickner, Mitchell Santner, Tim Seifert (wk), Ish Sodhi and Tim Southee

Bennett has so far represented New Zealand in one Test and 16 ODIs, and it is yet to play a T20 international. His last match for his country came against Bangladesh in Dublin in 2017 ahead of the Champions Trophy that year.

New Zealand currently has numerous names on the list of injured players, including Tom Latham, Matt Henry, Doug Bracewell, Adam Milne, Will Young, and Seth Rance.

Top-order batsman Tom Bruce makes a comeback to the side, named for the last two games of the five-match series. Bruce will replace all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme, who has only been selected for the first three matches. Captain Kane Williamson has also returned to the side’s T20 squad after missing out on the home T20s against England earlier in the home season due to a hip injury.

The selectors have named a New Zealand A team for a one-day series against India A, in addition to the side facing India in T20 internationals. Bruce will lead this team, which includes several players who have previously represented the senior side, such as Tom Blundell, Todd Astle, Glenn Phillips, George Worker, and Ajaz Patel.

New Zealand A squad: Tom Bruce (c), Todd Astle, Tom Blundell (wk), Mark Chapman, Jacob Duffy, Kyle Jamieson, Cole McConchie, Jimmy Neesham, Ollie Newton, Ajaz Patel, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra and George Worker.
