Hence, the government has planned to do something different through one of the most popular sports in the country. The BCB president Nazmul Hassan was keen on having the best available players and teams for the two games. "There will be a matter of availability if they [the players] have international duties," he said. "I think only two teams will be busy at the time; but they won't be playing T20s, so we might get their T20 players".
At the ICC meeting last week, all members were united in their opinion of allotting both matches international status. "We are looking for the best players among the current lot, and because the games will have international status, everyone will be serious about it", added Hassan.
Though usually, such games do not attain the highest category, he was extremely satisfied with them gaining an international post. "They made a special dispensation for Bangladesh, but they said it is only a one-off that such a match will get international status," Hassan said.
The matches are expected to be held between March 18 and 21 next year, both at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

In order to celebrate the hundredth birth anniversary of Bangladesh's founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has scheduled two T20s between an Asia XI and a World XI side in March 2020. While an annual celebration of his birth anniversary has always been held in the country - a national holiday has been one of the ways to honour him - the birth centenary next year makes the occasion further special.
